The basic requirement for a satisfactory peeling result is accurate positioning and pull-out resistant securing of the peeling insert in the peeling tool. In practice, the following 2 options are used in insert clamping:
Compared to clamping of the indexable insert using a clamping claw, when clamping the cutting insert using a clamping screw the cutting edge is always positioned accurately in the insert seat and clamped with precision both radially and axially. The screw clamping system is an affordable solution; only the clamping screw is a spare part. The extremely compact design without protruding components prevents problems during chip clearance and wear from occurring on the clamping parts.
In the case of the clamping screw, the screw must be completely undone on the peeling tool to turn the cutting insert. By contrast, when clamping using a clamping claw, the claw must only be lifted slightly for the indexable insert to be turned or replaced.
