Tangential indexable milling cutter with maximum tooth utilization
MaxiMill – Tangent delivers turbo feed rates
We've all been there. You're trying to machine a component, but interfering contours are making it hard to see what's happening. Face milling cutters are not an option here, especially when long overhangs make stable, low-vibration machining impossible. While this might sound like a problem without a solution, you just need the right tool—which is where the new MaxiMill – Tangent comes in. This tangential indexable milling cutter has got what it takes, especially when machining steel and cast iron parts.
Machining steel or cast iron components that are difficult to access is often a challenge, especially in unstable roughing applications.
But we have a solution: the MaxiMill – Tangent for stable, high-performance milling with low vibrations, delivering turbo feeds and maximum stability of the indexable inserts in your machining operations.
MaxiMill – Tangent: Advantages/benefits
The MaxiMill – Tangent delivers robust and soft-cutting machining in a single system. It was a top priority to provide a uniform chamfer profile over the full length of the cutting edge of the inserts. Our wide range of holders and indexable inserts with four usable cutting edges in sizes -09 and -13 offers a versatile selection for different applications. We've also integrated a face cutting edge in the system. This results in a number of advantages, one of which is even material removal, which creates a smoother component surface. Another advantage is that cutting forces are distributed more evenly, reducing stress on the tool and machine.
We are introducing the MaxiMill – Tangent to the market in three holder versions—a face mill, a screw-in cutter option, and a version with a cylindrical shank—in dimensions ranging from 25 to 125 mm. Large, durable contact surfaces for the indexable insert are also integrated in the holder for added stability and reliability. Another bonus of tangential clamping is that it offers space for a significantly higher number of indexable inserts on the milling body than a radial system would—so maximum cutting edge density and efficiency come guaranteed. You'll want to maintain that same level of efficiency when changing tools, so we've made it quick and easy to twist, turn, and replace the indexable inserts.

With internal coolant channels to prevent chip jams
Optimum chip control is a key success factor in shoulder, corner, and face milling. And this is exactly what the MaxiMill – Tangent provides thanks to a number of features, including its overall design and internal coolant channels. This prevents detrimental chip jams, improves the component surface quality, and extends the tool life considerably.

Keeping vibrations to a minimum: transverse slot shell mill adapter with active vibration damping
The MaxiMill – Tangent is also compatible with our transverse slot shell mill adapter with active vibration damping.
This combination ensures maximum process security, even on components that are hard to access and have tricky interfering contours.
Are long overhangs a fact of life, but intense vibrations are making things difficult? Our transverse slot shell mill adapter with active vibration damping, including an installed Densimet core, lets you minimize vibrations and thereby increase the tool life—which also results in significantly higher surface quality.
