Power Milling Cutter ProACT-Mill
Performance upGRADE for a more sustainable milling cutter line
Universal solid carbide milling cutters made from a more sustainable carbide boast a next-gen performance coating and sophisticated geometric features.
Designed to handle any application and suitable for a wide range of materials, universal milling systems are a favorite among machinists. But our new ProACT-Mill series has even more to offer: Made from CT-GS20Y – our most sustainable carbide grade currently available – this series helps to be resource-efficient while achieving an incredible boost in performance due to the latest geometry and coating technologies.
When developing our new ProACT-Mill milling tools, we had three goals: the tools had to be as universally applicable as possible, more powerful than comparable milling cutters, and made from our sustainable carbide grade CT-GS20Y None of this was easy – but we found a very effective solution.
Boost performance and sustainability with ProACT-Mill solid carbide milling cutters
99% reprocessed raw materials – 100% performance
Anyone who has machined steels, stainless steels or cast materials understands the ever-changing challenges for these materials. These milling cutters go a long way to boost your milling efficiency. But sustainability is an equally important aspect, no matter how demanding the commercial requirements. Which is why we developed the solid carbide milling cutters in the ProAct-Mill product line, which combines a high-performance milling cutter with the sustainability features of CT-GS20Y, our upGRADE substrate. This product range offers our customers economic and ecological advantages thanks to a specific low product carbon footprint (PCF).
Outstanding product performance and the lowest carbon emissions in its class!
What is upGRADE all about?
CT-GS20Y – The verifiably sustainable carbide
The new upGRADE line CT-GS20Y is 10% binder submicron carbide with a set tungsten grain size of 0.5 to 0.8 µm. It is the preferred grade for boring and milling tools made from solid carbide and is the ideal choice for a wide range of applications. What´s so special about CT-GS20Y? We use 99 % reprocessed cutting tools as a raw material. The production of this innovative material has a significantly smaller CO2 footprint than hard metals from conventional production. What's more, we have also prioritized the efficient use of energy and resources on the CT-GS20Y production line, as well as optimized logistics process.
Product carbon footprint (PCF) as a CO2 emissions index
Our goal is to establish a common market standard for calculating and classifying the carbon footprint of cutting tools: the product carbon footprint (PCF) classification. This enables us to offer our customers the desired transparency they want with regard to the carbon footprint of our products.
PCF classification: advantages/benefits
The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is calculated based on the specific greenhouse gas emissions of the input material used and the process modules involved in the production of the product.
If individual process modules are carried out by partners, the emissions of these process modules are calculated directly by the partners.

Greater performance with new coating and improved geometry
Development has also progressed in grinding technology, which is particularly evident in the new ProACT-Mill milling cutter series: These milling cutters boast optimized geometries that aim to deliver ultimate performance in as many materials as possible. However, this balancing act is anything but a compromise, as the test results of the new series show: compared to other universal tools, we achieve up to 30% higher performance. Also contributing to these outstanding results is a newly developed coating that gives the milling cutters additional performance and additional tool life.

Entire value chain in the DMC code
We firmly believe that sustainability should be a core aspect throughout a tool's entire life cycle. Digital tools such as the CERAsmart Cockpit and ToolCycle module make it possible to keep tabs on sustainability, as tools can be clearly identified, tracked and mapped throughout their entire life cycle thanks to a special DMC code lasered onto the tool itself.
This also includes the option of viewing the tool's grinding status. To give its tools a second or even multiple lives with the original geometries, CERATIZIT offers the ReStart service. Anyone looking to conserve a maximum of resources while significantly improving their carbon footprint will find that regrinding rather than rebuying pays off in more ways than one. Customers opting for this approach often cut their tool costs by more than half without any noticeable loss in performance, while also significantly downsizing their carbon footprint. When a tool does eventually reach the end of its service life, the raw materials it contains such as cobalt and tungsten can be recovered using special recycling processes, processed to make new tools and thus kept in the raw materials cycle.
