CERATIZIT turns "Smart Manufacturing" into reality

Why not combine an online trade fair with the benefits of a live event? Fortunately, DiMaP (Digital Machining Market Place) has the answer.

From 21 to 24 September 2021, DiMaP will once again be delighting fans with the event being presented in an online format. Afterwards visitors to EMO in Milan will be able to follow the "DiMaP Trail" and network on-site and 'live' with representatives from international companies and institutes covering the entire machining value creation chain. As a firm fixture in the digital machining workflow CERATIZIT will be presenting its efficiency-boosting solutions in a series of presentations and live demonstrations.

The tangible benefits of CERATIZIT's products only truly become clear when they are put to the test on active production lines. So why not bring the machining applications from real life to the potential customers? And better yet, potential customers from the entire value creation chain? The organisers of DiMaP asked themselves the same questions as they placed the focus on user case stories of digital machining at DiMaP 2021. Together with research institutes such as the PTW at TU Darmstadt, the Fraunhofer Institute IPT Aachen, IWU Chemnitz and IPA Stuttgart, representatives from across the industry will be reporting on trends and impacts in the digital machining sector. As an orientation event for EMO 2021 in Milan, interested parties will obtain an advance insight into the current state of play regarding digitalisation in commercial enterprises.

Precision and efficiency brought to the max

Process-secure milling is the superstar of the efficiency charts. The secret behind its leading position is the triad of cutting-edge tool technology, innovative CAM and reliable process monitoring – as depicted in a presentation from CERATIZIT on the virtual DiMaP stand. To demonstrate this, CERATIZIT will bring the new and improved SilverLines olid carbide milling cutters with the latest Dragonskin coating to the stage, which excels at trochoidal milling during roughing operations. The special CAM programming is supplied by OPEN MIND with its hyperMILL® CAM software. During subsequent finishing, the two project partners rely on circle segment milling with the SilverLine – with impressively short process times guaranteed.

In keeping with the theme of "Smart Manufacturing", the processes are monitored by the ToolScope monitoring and control system from CERATIZIT. This continuously records signals output from the machine tool during the production process, visualises this data to deliver important information regarding process control, documentation and machine protection. The spike®_mobile sensor system, for example, delivers excellent performance in this regard. Developed by pro-micron GmbH, the experts in wireless sensor systems, the intelligent adapter measures the forces occurring directly on the tool. The presentation and accompanying video will show how spike®_mobile and ToolScope ensure process monitoring right down to the finest detail during roughing and finishing with the new SilverLine milling cutters.

Achieving the best surfaces with just the right level of tension

An exciting workholding presentation will highlight how the X5G-Z 5-axis vice, with elastomer damping, is proving itself to be indispensable in everyday machining, it will be demonstrated against a competitor vice. Combined with the new HDC chuck for heavy-duty machining and the latest SilverLine milling cutters, the X5G-Z proves that its vibration-damping properties truly deliver better surface finishes. ToolScope monitors the tool condition at the cutting edge and allows the users to immediately identify whether the clamping device is producing the required clamping force to rule out possible vibrations before work begins. Continuous monitoring during the process means that operations lasting over a shift change or even unmanned production lines can achieve flawless results right from day one.
