CTPX710 & CTPX715 – Turning Grades for difficult-to-machine materials

The CTPX710 and the CTPX715 are turning grades for difficult-to-machine materials that offer outstanding performance when machining multiple materials including steel, stainless steel, super alloys and non-ferrous metals.

Optimized coating

The X710 & X715 turning grades have an AlTiN-based coating which is applied using our legendary Dragonskin coating technology. To ensure suitability for such a broad spectrum of materials, the microstructure of the coating has been optimized and a specialized fine grain metal used. In addition, the Dragonskin coating technology makes the surface particularly smooth, which improves chip removal and reduces adhesion, even with materials that are difficult to machine such as titanium or stainless steel.

Advantages

  • Only one grade is needed to machine different materials
  • Offers an ideal combination of state-of-the-art high-performance substrates and advanced coating structure to achieve high cutting speeds and increased process security
  • AlTiN-based coating gives the tool a very high level of thermal stability for long tool life
  • Fewer insert indexing needed
  • Extremely high layer thickness guarantees ultimate precision of shape and dimensional stability in the insert

Currently, the X7 Line grades are only available for turning tools. More applications including milling and grooving are set to follow.
