CERATIZIT’s delivery promise of “Order today. Delivered tomorrow.” is possible thanks to an ultra-modern logistics centre at the site in Kempten. Innovative logistics processes ensure quick and reliable delivery of goods. For our customers, this means that they do not need to keep stock of all tools and can therefore save on storage costs.

The logistics centre is equipped with highly digitised picking processes and can have orders placed on the way to customers in next to no time. In the 17,000 m2 warehouse, around 900 tonnes of goods and roughly 90,000 different cutting tools are moved and picked in three storage aisles each with 21 levels. A fully automated storage system ensures that the goods are transported to the picking and packing departments via 2.7 km conveyor lines. Employees compile the orders there. To ensure that there are sufficient items ready for shipping on site at all times, the logistics centre is regularly supplied with new goods by the production facilities. High-precision scales check each parcel for weight fluctuations prior to shipping and ensure increased security in the shipping process. It is for these reasons that we have the most modern logistics centre in the industry.

Around 110 dedicated employees ensure smooth logistics processes. Orders placed before 7pm are shipped on the same day and can be reliably delivered by the next working day in almost all regions in Europe, even on Saturdays. Air freight across the globe is possible within a very short time frame thanks to good connections with Munich airport. Every order, be it a single part or large order, is handled with the same care and importance and is shipped to the customer in a timely manner. “We can proudly say that every order placed has left the warehouse on the same day for over a year. Around 4500 parcels are shipped to customers in roughly 80 countries every day, with 4pm to 7pm being the busiest period,” says Axel Pracht, head of the logistics centre in Kempten. “The team is only satisfied when there are no more parcels waiting to be shipped in the evening. This is called same-day processing and that is JUST OUR THING.”

The energy needs of the logistics centre are covered using electricity produced by the company’s own 350 kilowatt photovoltaic system. The parking area is equipped with e-charging stations for electric vehicles. Packaging is also made from environmentally friendly materials and CERATIZIT works exclusively with shipping partners that take measures to reduce their CO2 footprint.
