Special solutions for actuating tools

Most applications for actuating tools are highly specific, which is why the tools used also need to be precisely tailored to them. With numerous options on offer, we provide efficient and powerful solutions even for the most tricky applications. For example, do you want complete machining without the hassle of having to reclamp the tools? Our actuating tools demonstrate how time and money can be saved even in demanding situations like these.

Slide boring bar

Crankshaft bearing holes, hydraulic housing or other hole cavities can be machined with maximum precision and efficiency using slide boring bars. The boring bars can either be actuated via a drawbar, rotationally or mechatronically, or via the cooling lubricant. They can be used on standard and special machines alike.

Each tool is individually tailored to the respective machining task. Share your machining requirements with us and together we will find the perfect solution.

How does a slide boring bar work? Let us show you!

The best way to see how specially adapted slide boring bars work is in our application video. To give you a better understanding, we've brought together a few examples.

Exchangeable systems

Exchangeable actuating tools are our universal solutions. Thanks to the extremely wide variety of these tools, they can be used on most machining centres.

Mechanical systems

Our actuating tools can be driven mechanically in different ways, such as via a rotary actuator shaft or a coupled drawbar and push rod on the machine side. Another option is that they are driven by the coolant on all machining centres. Alternatively, 'contact-actuated tools' can be used, which can be activated by a point of contact on the workpiece or a corresponding device.

Mechatronic systems

Extend the possibilities to your machining centres with the programmable KOMtronic U-axis systems. They can perform any contour turning and turning operations on parts that are not rotationally symmetrical and therefore complete machining. Combined with custom-made snap-on tools and specially selected indexable inserts, contouring in holes or externally on shafts can be carried out. Best of all: they are flexible and shorten your production times considerably, as they allow complete machining to be performed, while also improving the surface quality and delivering higher accuracy of form.

The best actuating tools, whether mechatronic or mechanical, are not available off the shelf. If you're looking for a tailored solution to your machining challenge, then simply get in touch – we'll work with you to find the ideal solution.

Fixed systems

Some machine manufacturers rely on integrated solutions. In this case, our actuating tools are installed as fixed systems and can be driven by a wide variety of drive concepts – rotary-driven or with a drawbar and push rod. Users benefit from extremely stable connections to the respective special machine.

Mechanical systems

Our actuating tools can be driven mechanically from the machine side via a rotary actuator shaft or a coupled drawbar and push rod. They can also be driven via the coolant supply. Contact-actuated tools also deliver excellent performance if they can be activated by a point of contact on the workpiece or a corresponding device.

Mechatronic systems

Thanks to the minimal size of the KOMtronic U-axis spindle systems, you can also extend the possibilities to special-purpose machines. Using a direct path measurement system on the slide delivers maximum precision for external and internal machining. The rotary actuator rules out any heat transfer errors.

To find the best solution for the machining task in question, every tool is individually tailored to the application. Do you have a tricky machining requirement? Simply get in touch and we'll find the ideal tooling combination together with you.
